Ruby Red (Review #1)

Ruby Red Review
by Kerstin Gier
Series: Precious Stone Trilogy

Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth, who in the middle of class takes a sudden spin to a different era!
Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon--the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential. Together, Gwyneth and Gideon journey through time to discover who, in the 18th century and in contemporary London, they can trust.
FAVORITE QUOTES

“You were talking to that niche in the wall again, Gwyneth. I saw you."

"Yes, but it's my favorite bit of wall, Gordon. I'd hurt its feelings if I didn't stop and talk to it.”

-Gordon & Gwenyth

“Are you by any chane staring at my breasts?” I asked indignantly.

He  grinned. “Not directly,” he whispered back.

-Gideon & Gwenyth

POOR GWENYTH
Gwyneth, I feel bad for her a lot during the entire first half of the story. Her cousin is a snobby bitch, along with her aunt and Lady Arista (her grandmother.) I mean who makes their grandchildren call them Lady Arista. Gwyneth's not as smart as her cousin Charlotte, who’s suppose to have the time traveling gene, and she doesn’t believe she’s as pretty either. Big surprise when she time travels on her way to the store. She tries to keep it to herself, but her friend, who just so happens to be amazing, Lesley, convinced her to tell her mother. Turns out her mother knew it was a possibility. You would think Gwyneth's troubles would be over now, but no, now she has all these guardians who don’t believe her, and her family is still being crazy, except aunt Maddy, who is a sweet little old lady. Oh, and let’s not forget that she has to deal with Gideon now.

GORGEOUS GIDEON
Gideon is an asshole, plain and simple, he may be a hot one but he’s an asshole. I love him though, he’s hilarious. He’s mean to Gwyneth, who can’t help but feel attracted to him, and he may like Charlotte her cousin. He doesn’t want to work with Gwyneth, and thinks that they should just leave her out of the missions. He called her Winnie, when they first met, even though she’d told him her name was Gwyneth. He thinks she’s just a  dumb schoolgirl, and Gwyneth is hell bent on proving him wrong. Which she may, because at the end.. (SPOILER)

KISSING CONCLUSION
At the end of the story Gideon and Gwyneth go to visit Lady Tinley, Gwyneth's great-great grandmother. She doesn’t want to give Gwyneth and Gideon her blood for the chronograph (I will not explain this confusing thing, just know it’s important). She ends up setting them up, so that Paul and Lucy can talk to them (I’ll talk about them later.) Gideon doesn’t want to talk though, so he points a gun at Lucy’s head until they get outside, and then they make a run for it. Gwenyth and Gideon end up in a church, and they sit in the confessional until they can elapse back to the present. They end up kissing, right into the conclusion. Let me tell you I sure was pissed that the story ended like that, but at least we got a  pilogue.

PILOGUE (LUCY & PAUL)
Okay, so let me tell you, from the beginning I had suspicions that Lucy and Paul were Gwyneth’s parents. In the beginning Lucy feels ashamed and upset for abandoning someone though it really isn’t clear, at first I thought it was a baby. Now, that I’ve read the whole story I’ m not sure whether they’re referring to Grace or Gwenyth. In the pilogue though:

“She looks just like you,” she said suddenly.

He knew at once who she was talking about. “No, she looks like you, Princess! It’s only her hair she gets from me.”

-Paul & Lucy.

So now, I’m really beginning to wonder.. I really can’t wait until the next book.

8/25/13

So if you're reading this you more than likely know about my story The Song The Sign The Player. This is my first blog and I'm going to dedicate it to the book. I'm just going to tell you when to expect updates. Also letting you guys know I have a new story in mind and want to know if you'll read it.

Chapter 33: September 1st

Chapter 34 (last chapter): September 8th

That's all for now but I'll keep you guys posted.

A POSSIBLE NEW STORY (Feedback please)

"A Witch, vampire, werewolf, an elf, and a demon are supernatural hunters, you've got to be kidding me." I say as I stare at the odd group of people in front of me.

Jake shakes his head, "You forgot, and a human or whatever you are." He says pointing at me.

Rayna Jenson never would've thought that her life would turn upside down when her mom reveals that she's a supernatural hunter. She also never would've thought that she's some powerful unknown  species and that people want to kill her, but that's a whole other story.

Follow Rayna as she battles for her life, love, and power.
